AUDIO DRAMA + RECORDED ONLINE GAMES

Jennifer Bakst, Maxine Peake and Helen Skiera. Yes we are all smiling because we have been making sex noises around a binaural head and it might be the most fun I’ve ever had in a studio.

F**cked up Bedtime Stories

Binaural audio dramas with Engligh Touring Theatre

Simon Stephens, Stephen Mangan, Rcihard Twyman, Helen Skiera

Recording and editing in the National Theatre Sound Studios

F**cked up Bedtime Stories (series 2) was a project that featured different writers, actors and sound designers, under the direction of Jennifer Bakst and Richard Twyman. We recorded the vocals for the stories in the National Theatre sound studios, with a KU100 binaural head, as well as a U87 for conventional mono VO. I recorded additional binaural effects at my home studio with my own ku100, which took a ride in a car for Heathstead, and had towels and duvets scrunched around it for Wank. You can hear the three pieces I designed here:

Heathstead with Stephen Mangan

Wank with Maxine Peake

On A Distant Shore - with David Harewood

“The piece crackles with visceral power as it arcs through its terrible curve …” The Stage

“the passion in Hale’s language is set against Helen Skiera’s crisp sound design. Zmitrowicz and Razia’s words sound poetic against the distant pelt of rain, the footsteps of a crowd or the splash of water in the quarry the girls jump into in delightful abandon.” The Guardian
